Hello! After a hectic week at school (Chem test, lab practical and 7 page paper ugh) I am finally getting around to posting about my trip up to Kenosha Pass last weekend. Being the second week of October it was a little late to see fall foliage, because most places in the mountains of Colorado peak late September. I was hoping that we would at least see some leaves still on the trees, but to my dismay almost all the trees were bare. There was, however, one groove of trees that still had leaves on them. So instead of hiking the standard Colorado Trail we went off trail and ventured to said grove of trees. It was a short hike up, only a mile and a half, and the views were breathtaking. You could see Mt Evans in the distance and the weather was absolutely perfect. When hiking in Colorado I have found that I never know what to expect so I always dress in tons of layers! When we reached the groove of bright yellow trees we took a break and enjoyed some hot chocolate and snacks. Even though I have lived in Colorado practically my enter life there are still so many places I have yet to explore and the mountains still continue to take my breath away. There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING, better than fall in the Rocky Mountains. Although it only lasts a short while until all the leaves are gone, I will take every chance I can get to come up and take in the beauty of the trees changing colors and the crisp mountain air. Are there any hikes you like to do during the fall/winter months in Colorado? If so, I would love to know about them! Happy Fall!
Sincerely,
Cara
