Three Ways to Practice Thankfulness and My Favorite Fall Look

We are officially one week into November and it really got me thinking about Thanksgiving and just giving thanks in general. I have always tried to make a point to practice thankfulness but especially this time of year I really start putting more thought into it. Here are some ideas I have come up with on how to practice thankfulness not only in the month of November but everyday.

Write down three things you are thankful for every night before bed

This is something I already do, but I thought I would share it because I have noticed how much it has made a difference in my life over the last couple months that I have been doing it. What I really noticed is that even on the bad days there is always something you can be thankful for. I also noticed that what I am thankful for is usually the little things or people. Either a person who went out of their way that day and made me smile or something as small as the cup of coffee in the morning. It goes to show that happiness doesn’t come from the big things that we think will make us happy. A lot of times it’s the little things we already have. You can write the things down in a journal, in your planner or even a sticky note to remind you the next day. I personally write them down in my planner that has a designated gratitude section. It’s always fun to look back and see what I wrote down, especially on days when I am feeling down. I am going to link the planner I use down below for those of you who are interested.

Send handwritten thank you cards

In the digital age handwritten cards are becoming a rare occurrence. Don’t think you can only send a thank you card to someone who gave or did something for you either. Sometimes sending a card just telling someone you are thankful for them is a little gesture that makes a big difference.

Donate your time, money, or belongings

Sometimes the best way to practice gratitude is to realize that you have so much and that there are people who aren’t as fortunate as you are. One way to recognize this is by donating your time, money or belongings. Even if you don’t have money or things to donate, donating your time is honestly the most powerful thing. When surrounded by people who have less you will realize just how fortunate you are. Whether it be at a hospital surrounded by those who don’t have their health or at a homeless shelter surrounded by those who don’t have much of anything, there are always people who are worse off than you and that is something to be very thankful for.

I want to thank each of you for supporting me and following along with me on this journey. I am so thankful for each and every one of you!

I also wanted to share this outfit with you because it is hands down my favorite fall outfit. I will be doing a dressier thanksgiving look next week but if you prefer something a little more casual this would be perfect!

One last thing!

“What if you woke up tomorrow and all you had were the things you thanked God for yesterday?”

Just some food for thought!

Sincerely,

Cara
