I get the question a lot, “where do you like to shop?” My immediate response is always “in store or online?” I ask this because often people have a preference of whether they like to do their shopping in person or online. For me, I like to do both, and it completely depends on the store. Because I get this question so often I am going to break down what stores I would rather shop online and which stores are better to shop in person.

J. Crew

It is no secret that this is one of my favorite stores. I often do my shopping online for this one because I do not have a store close to me, but if I had the option I would rather shop in person. There are a few reasons why I would rather shop in person. First, they only honor the student discount in person. Next, their sizing runs rather large, so I like to try things on so I know that I am getting the right size. Lastly, they honor promotions that they are running online in store, you just have to mention it to them at checkout.

Nordstrom

This is definitely one of the places I would rather shop online at. The selection is way better online and because it is such a big store, it can be overwhelming to browse the isles, in what seems like always takes forever. And did I mention, free shipping and free returns?

Nordstrom Rack

Although it would seem fitting that I would also like to shop at Nordstrom Rack online, they are the same company after all, that is not the case. I prefer shopping at Nordstrom Rack in person. I think it is because they get the leftovers of what did not sell at Nordstrom that makes the selection of what’s in stores so different from their online selection. I have found that I have much better luck finding things that I like in store, and have never actually found anything worth buying online.

H&M

I have many convenient H&M locations around where I live, so in order to avoid shipping costs and try the items on, I would rather shop in person. They also send out coupons in emails that they often honor in store.

Is it just me, or are the styles they have in store nothing like what they sell online? I feel like the store and online retailer are two completely different brands altogether. Well anyway, I would much rather shop online, due to the drastically different styles.

Banana Republic

Just like J. Crew, their sizing runs very large in my opinion. For this reason I like to try before I buy.
